Thanks saxophonic. No specific books. The stuff I'm playing here is just some 'vocab' I've worked on over the years. One thing to do is take a riff or pattern and actually apply it over a tune in different ways/keys. It can then become second nature, so you aren't thinking riffs and patterns as much as you are just blowing over the changes. Keep transcribing solos and get a teacher that will help give you material.

hey cat sounding very good i'm 17 and i'm a jazz altoist, however i was wondering were you get alot of your licks and patterns from? i usually get them from transcribing solos, but are there any books u could recomend that will increase my jazz vocabulary? Peace from london.

Thanks! When I was your age until about 23 I played my sax for at least 2 hours every day, often much more. Get a good private teacher and listen to old bluenote records.

I play Barry Sax, Alto Sax, Violin, Piano, and Guitar and im only 14 but how often do you practice to get his good
