Jerry Cantrell - Hurts, Don't It? Posted by: Headbanger270
Video duration: 289 seconds This is hands down the best instrumental ever made. The guitar and bass make the deep, dark, emotional sound that lives up to the song's title. This is off of Jerry Cantrell's second solo album's bonus edition, Degradation Trip Volume 2. Jerry Cantrell is a guitar god, and if you fail to understand that, then you fail at life. This intro alone is just pure sexiness. This song is awesome. This would've made a great video.

AiC has their own genre of rock different to any other band. So does Tool. But I consider AiC to be more metal than hard rock but every one of their songs differ in heaviness so hard rock/metal/grunge combined into one would be their summary of their sound. But still different from any other band.

I don't think AIC fits into the classic Metal scene...It fits more into a Hard Rock mixed with Grunge that gave birth to Metal

Okay, you wanted me to comment, so I will. I wish people would realize how much Cantrell has contributed to metal. We're all so hunng up on the Kirk Hemmets, the Jimi Hendrixs, the Eddie Van Halens, that we forget just how much heavy music was made possible by this guy from Alice in Chains. Jerry Cantrell MADE SLUDGE POSSIBLE. Thanks for posting the vid, man - it's downright awesome.

and then the beatles, metallica, AC/DC, and numerous other old bands that I cant remember ensured its survival.

more of a country influence. think of rock as a pickle, the african american race created the cucumber, but white people took the cucumber and put it in a jar of vinegar and out came rock as we know it

Bah. Every generation says that about the next, whether it be in music, art, drama, writing, whatever. And it's always just as false as it was ten years before; there's plenty of talent, it just sounds different.

Yes but if the Black people did create blues, what would rock be like today?
By: rythmnmethod. on 26 Oct 08, 02:20:09
one race doesnt get the credit for all of such a vast genre of music. Rap was used in shakespearian days, does that mean white people get the credit for that?
By: Headbanger270. on 18 Oct 08, 02:45:45
Sure did. They created the blues, which from that, rock branched off of blues. And so, rock music was originated from negro music, but a century ago. In the 40s and 50s was when rock was being formed. Elvis and Wilson Pickett made the rock scene big.

but didn't all rock come from negro music in a way?
By: nenshoukun. on 08 Oct 08, 05:10:11
you say that, but the real problem is negro music...

screamo sux. there is very, very little talent these days. grunge is where it always was and in blues bands and bands like led zep. and mine.

I've been listening to this album again and re-discovered this amazing song. Guitar work is great, this guy rocks like none other.

This song is amazing... Every single time I listen to it, I space out in it.

The guitar work in this tune is trippy and incredibly beautiful, without the virtuoso-one step forward boring crap. Rock on, Jerry.

I know what you mean. We barely have any awesome guitarists today. It's sad...all we have is this emo pop screamo stuff. This is emotional guitar playing. Soulful too. We need more guitarists like that today.
By: edgar587. on 08 Jun 08, 17:31:18
one of the last great guitarists, drivin' me insane, without senseless virtuoso stuffs.
By: Headbanger270. on 06 Jun 08, 06:33:28
