I think it is an Aebersold backing track. I'm actually just mic -ing the speakers (not the best solution). I was going to mix the two tracks but was having trouble synch-ing the two.

Looking at the blurb on your page, rather than military music, also consider a job on the cruise ships. They usually ask for flute, sax and clarinet. I don't have clarinet (yet).

Excellent! I really like the way you play around the melody and often quote and paraphrase it in your improv. Bossa nova is indeed beautiful and delicate music and perfectly suited to the gentle nature of the flute. Just lovely.

Yes, the song reminds me of sunshine and ocean. I'm right beside the ocean in a little bay. The sun is coming through a Japanese red maple in front of my window and creates a nice effect. Hard to see though. I'm a bit cramped because of my primitive mike setup.

I was thinking of the importance of visualization in flute playing. That is, the importance of spending a few moments preparing a "scenario" or "feeling" just before doing a piece. I was imagining a lazy sunny day beside the ocean here.

I understand what you mean, but reverberation does not absolutely/always improve a sound... sometimes it just sounds like a ''lie'', as if the sound and its echo are too separate... also, what do you mean by a ''poor sound'', it depends on the atmosphere you want to create; for me, this peace is dreamy, yes, but also intimate, as if I was sitting next to the brooklet and the flute player in the quiet depths of a forest (so without any echo), you know?

I disagree, a flute outdoors is a very poor sound, much better in a church. Tell me what cheap student instrument it is, I would get one too, I have an old YFl 21, still going well, travels every week 2ookm. We also heard Paul Horn here in Whangarei,nz, And I played my Vtrom to his soppranosax.

I never said there was. The exercise that I was referring to is a typical long tone exercise done by starting at B natural below middle C and going down by half steps. I too have hit B flat, but I had to pull the headjoint out a lot and had to mess with my embrochure.

Very nice! I played Syrinx as a class A high school piece for nineth grade contest and got a superior rating :). It's really a fun piece and you can do so much with it to make it your own. There are so many different interpretations that can be made. Have you ever played Debussy's Pan? I've been looking for a recording on the internet but have not found it! Could you please perform that one for me and post it? If you do, please let me know!! Once again, great job! Very well done. -Bell

I've only had a B foot joint for about 8 months now. I still have trouble sometimes hitting the low B. I played mainly etudes (studies) rather than exercises. I've never really discovered the importance of exercises until I began studying jazz improvisation.

There was some reverb applied using Sony Sound Forge, so it sounds echo-ey (maybe too echo-ey). But, it really is me, (on a cheap student model flute). I'm recording into a telephone headset (headset with microphone, as you can see) using Microsoft LifeCam and a Microsoft camera. They were on sale ...

The student surpasses the teacher (Moyse). I've never heard anyone play this better. It is at the heart of Debussy's intentions. It is amusing that Galway, Pahud, Rampal, whover did not have this connection to this piece.

I have to agree. I really did it thinking of turning it into a pop piece, using my own timing, and rhythm, using just the notes of the piece. If comparing to a known performance, or using classical/romantic period performance strictures as a guide - it won't sound right. If hearing for the first time, it might sound vaguely interesting. But, room for improvement.
