Make your own white balance filter. Take a standard UV filter, and cut out tracing paper in a circle...now fit it inside the UV filter, screw it on camera...and presto...your very own white balance filter.

yeah you can under white balance in camera settings then preset white balance. It worked really amazing for florescent ligting which was way way off under auto...I am a new found believer in toilet paper white balance

of course you can, theres a preset function in the wb setting, select it from the settings menu it will ask you to take a shot of something that is white and sets its wb automatically to correct it

Two ply something. Likely whatever was on sale. In all seriousness though, it shouldn't matter, as long as it's a fairly neutral white.

what kind of toilet paper are you using? this is a real question.
By: hendriksholm. on 21 May 08, 19:52:12
You can't - it does'nt allow you to tweak the white balance.

Thanks for the useful tip - really clears the "white balance" thing up. I had a guy tell me about using a styrofoam cup and just didn't get it. So I should upgrade my D200 to a D300?

Thanks for your great tip about white balance, It surely works better than the Auto White balance. I dint try Pre WB with toilet paper because of lint/fiber sticking to the lense, I tried simple white plastic carry bag you get when shopping at walmart and it works just fine and did a pretty good job. How do I Pre WB (Nikon D80) if I want to mix flash and available light? Thanks buddy, waiting for some more tips/tricks from you.
