..and to think; they wasted time muting Kit's always word when they had justification to completely mute the dialog when the Lightning Gun nails the SeaDuck a second time and misses since Ed Gilbert accidently dropped the F-bomb which managed to show up inbetween Rebecca and Kit's cheering for victory. It just makes the always mute seem even more heartless in hindsight.

P&L had about 75 edits done to it; probably more between the movie and syndication version. There were also three additional cuts made in 1995 due to violence. Those three scenes cut were restored for the DVD release. And yes; I'm serious about the 75 edits..It's a who's who of editing anime from 4Kids actually. Paint edits, dialog added when there should be silence, scene additions, scene deletions, Silence where there should be dialog.

Well, I can't make another one of these, because apparently there's a time limit on how long a video can be, if I make it much longer then ten minutes, it goes under a term violation and gets rejected. So even if I wanted to put that scene in, I'd have to cut one or two clips out. I'm lucky to get that clip of Kit being chased through the Iron Vulture and then swing a rope in this video.

Business Standards And Practices (BS&P): Basically means what the talent can do and not do in a certain production. Companies have different standards depending on what the company policy is so it is not a government thing and even standards change over time. In fact Quack Pack allowed a beheading spot (in a halloween production where a character takes their head off and shoots flames from the neck) in their series that wasn't allowed before.

It is one thing to cut a production for time, BUT,to cut out THE MOST IMPORTANT/ DEFINING moment/scene of a movie(and also remember that this was the "pilot" movie/episode(s) to introduce the entire series), THAT type of cut is unnacceptable!! If it was "really" a time issue, they could have shortened countless flight scenes,etc. BUT:"Would Kit have even thought twice about a new way/life IF Rebecca and Molly hadn't also shown him they care/love him",which is WHY this scene is so important??!!

To GregoryWeagle. About your comment on cutting this scene, I infinitely agree!! This is why I mention on my own channel that many people (especially the haters) have the wrong view of Rebecca, her TRUE heart, and what IS the MOST important thing to her, even above her business. This CUT scene is critically important because IT is the one moment in the entire movie/series that defines the characters AND the whole TaleSpin theme/concept according to the ORIGINALLY intended writing.

It was a time cut; but damn it, it was a heartless time cut at that. It really painted Disney as someone who hates family by love and it basically alienated everyone in the audience. It seems to me that Eisner was trying to dull or cut anything related to Kit because the entire scene from Kit pushing Molly in the chair to Kit eating the cookie in his bed was all about Rebecca and Molly trying to tell Kit something important.

Kit actually chose Baloo at first afterwards; but Don Karnage kidnapped the females basically forcing Kit and Baloo to go rescue them and in Act III; Kit would make history as a character and one to this day I wish he never did. I wished he was kidnapped instead of being an Air Pirate before. I'm glad Kit didn't go into detail on his past because if he did; it would scare the crap right out of me. I'm sure it scared BS&P.

To me this scene change my thoughts on Rebecca as a character since she was seen at first to be a Class S jerk who could only be tempered by Molly Cunningham. And it was Molly who changed Kit's outlook since she popped the question that Kit doesn't like to answer. It also brought Kit to a crossroads and make a really hard decision. Either stay with Baloo or convince him to stay with Rebecca and be a family. Neither choice is wrong; but the loser will suffer regardless of that choice.

Hey.... PieFights. You know what?? That is a great idea for a Wonderful World of Disney event, and it would do Walt and the "old school" animators,writers,everybody, a moment of respect and memory. I think we / all fans should make that suggestion to Disney. If they won't show it or release it on another DVD ever again anyway, it can't hurt to try.

This whole scene sets up the whole theme for not only the movie but the entire TaleSpin series wherein Kit, Rebecca,Baloo,Molly and even Wildcat,grow to love and care for each other with each trial/adventure they go thru. Because of his past,Kit would very likely have just tried to continue to find a way to use the stone or something and left, but Becky and Baloo proved they cared about him from the start, which makes no sense WHY they cut this out entirely.

To Cloudkicker. Absolutely!! What really upsets me is that this entire scene was intended to TRULY define Rebecca's ENTIRE character,yet it was only EVER shown ONLY in the original UNCUT movie,but not the DVD!! This one scene however, gives "substance and definition" not only to Rebecca's complete character,but also to the bond between Kit,Baloo and her,and what matters most to her even above her business as originally intended by the writers,artists,and entire production crew.
