Aderjin, what is this 'sakki'? I heard about it before, but I've never seen scientific proof of its existence. Is it something beyond the physical? Just curious.

I just don't think dr. Hatsumi is training...
By: slapupchrist. on 18 Nov 08, 10:45:04
It must be really hard for Hatsumi to do these techniques with his uke just standing there. I mean, who needs to train against resistance when you can train against someone just standing there?...

Somehow similar to the "Ma-ai" concept in aikido and iaido.

Yes the shinobis are truelly a magnificient warrior. they are Full Action Packing Cool. more faster and patient than a samurai.

right, I think toki would be the appropriate concept.
By: kensen. on 13 Nov 08, 15:46:17
In the Bujinkan exist a term call "Toki", that described the space o the seconds that with one move you can create that give you the advantage. One second can mark a difference between be safe and be dead

Lol, it's not cheating, it's called 'sakki'. The ability to predetermine what your opponent is going to do.

He does accept new students, you were very mislead.
By: taylormoorefield. on 17 Oct 08, 20:00:08
I have read many books by him, and I am soooooo mad that he doesn't except new students anymore. He is one of the greatest martial artists alive. I have begun to teach myself some of the basic kata of Taijustu, and the basic methods of silent travel in Shinobi-Iri. But, I'm gonna train at Kasumi Yama soon! Its one of the best Buj schools in the US. I can't wait. I love this video. its a great technique.

actually, the word nin has many meanings related with endurance, secrecy and concealment, so the term ninja was more used in the sense of the modern word "spy" and it's not directly linked with the concept of assassination. And yes, they were fucking cool.
By: Iwannaplayssbb. on 28 Sep 08, 10:19:10
HOW FUCKING COOL a true ninja was, damn!!!!,the word assassin = ninja

if you look at the void between hatsumi and his partner, you'll find that Hatsumi is reacting to uke's feet and moving subtly in accord with him
By: KiraSuccessor. on 04 Sep 08, 18:00:41
It was just a demonstration.... Anyway he had no chance!
By: BoguleZ. on 15 Aug 08, 13:45:13
I dont think resistance is the issue rather its speed, Hatsumi starts moving before the attacker which is cheating.
By: Takashi577. on 08 Aug 08, 00:16:25
they're not training rkjk302, they're demonstrating for us that's why
By: painsey. on 06 Aug 08, 19:12:04
now this guy should have been the fight designer for the mortal kombat movies or at least a character on them, that woud kick ass
By: dhw1971. on 02 Aug 08, 20:56:40
well said. i am sick of people looking at kata and saying "that wouldnt work in reality." ITS A KATA!!!! it teaches a principle! if people have no concept of what he's doing, i wish they would stop posting!
By: zsoujiro. on 25 Jul 08, 18:33:18
no my friend, that's not the way to train, they aren't training though, and this is not a demonstration either. Hatsumi sensei is trying to teach a concept, so he needs to show details, something you wouldn't be able to see if they perform the technique with real resistance. That's a common misconception about bujinkan's "way of training", realism and resistance is not only allowed, it's even encouraged, but sometimes you want to show something to your students, so uke collaborates.
By: rkjk302. on 25 Jul 08, 18:02:44
why does the other guy seem to freeze and wait for hatsumi to finish his moves is he not allowed to resist is that the way they train how useless is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
