Trippy sh*t! Had some very creative techniques for the time. Such as in the opening, where the moon follows the pedestrian, and the far trees follow somewhat, but the near trees move backwards. Very realistic. I don't remember seeing that much realism with Mickey Mouse. Also, the lighter flicking in the darkness, with only the flint to illuminate the fingers,until the flame catches on. Its like the animator was trying to push the envelope with what could be done with animation. 5 stars!

shrug. good point, but remember art is always affected by it's environment, and certain cultural features of 'Japan-at-war' did sneak in. They just happened to make the spider an American. No biggie. Just like the Superman villains from the same time-period were always Japanese. But this definitely isn't propaganda, it's just mildly reflective of outside forces. So your point is a good one.

Was this Teresa Teng or someone else? Growing up in mainland China during 70s-80s, I heard these songs numerous times on the radio and loved them. Most people didn't have TV sets so I didn't know what the singers looked like. During these times though, Teresa Teng was banned in mainland China. I'm pretty sure that the ones I heard were sung by singers from the mainland, not HK. Of course, many singers could have sung these songs. I largely agree with that, but I would call that kind of corporation you refer to an industrial complex. I'm not too sure on what Friedman thought on the matter, but I would assert that in a truly free market, we are all individual corporate entities. The worker sells his service to his employer for an agreed price, the employer sells the produce and so it goes on. When people lose sight of that, we end up with either the government, or the industrial complex infringing on our freedoms.
