Looking at some of the replies to my comments (especially Philmneil's & JackstackZF's) it seems that most people are already rich or just want to stay poor because they do not give a monkeys about unfair celebrity wages. Can't wait to get this book, met Richard Hammond who was shopping with his family on the weekend, my little boy Billy is a HUGE fan of his, and top gear, but could hardly speak! and so i plucked up the courage to approach him for Billy (although i felt super awkward as he was with his family) But Richard was a true gent, shook Billys hand and gave him his autograph, Thankyou so much Richard it meant a lot : )

You say that celebrities give money to charity but this isn't entirely true, they only give a small percentage of the interest their £Millions have made, they hardly ever touch their own money! If a low paid worker puts 50p in a charity tin (from his £150 per week wage) he has really given MUCH more than all celebrities put together!

My comments are not aimed specifically at Hammond, they are aimed at all high earning celebs and especially the government who "CAN" make things fairer - tomorrow! I think wages should be fairer because its lower paid workers that really give money its value, if we didn't go to work to manufacture products shops wouldn't have stock and products couldn't be purchased - making money worthless. Its lower paid workers that keep the world moving, not celebs, so why are we treated so bad?

It is wrong that celebs get paid so much because it makes everybody elses wage seem pathetic - why should people bother working when they are treated like dirt by the government, I say the government because they have the power to change things. For example, they could tax celebs 99% so if they earn £100k they only get £1k, the other £99k could go to good causes such charities & medical research. I hope there are more people like you Sarah!

What I guess I should say then is certain people shouldn't try to cover certain songs. I think he's good at his own stuff, don't get me wrong, but in my opinion he didn't do this much justice. I like some of Clapton's covers of Johnsons songs very much. And just because someone covers a song doesn't mean the original person is going to get more attention. A lot of people ask me to play stuff written by so and so, whoever they heard cover the song, when they have no idea who originally sang it.

Unfortunately, had Johnson's music been "left untouched", most of us would have never had the benefit of hearing it at all. Music is meant to be played and shared. I don't care what color your skin is, where you come from, or who your daddy is - none of this has any bearing on whether you can move people with your music. John moves people. He also respects and honors the bluesmen who came before him. He's the blues - he's got it. I'm glad that he's chosen to share it with the rest of us.

I agree that some people have fucked up Robert's tunes and made a fortune by ripping the old Bluesmen off. But John writes his own Blues, so I cut him some slack. Besides, if you closed your eyes, you'd think it was 1935 and you were in the Delta.

John is the real deal. His father produced greats in the 40s. He's been doing this since the 60s revival. John's recordings helped me learn to play this music, and the time I met him he was a really nice guy. I shook his hand, talked for a minute and he signed his album cover for me. Nice fellow. His major fault, in my mind, is that he often overplays; he misses notes because of it; you can hear it multiple times in almost every song. Best harpist while harp is on a stand.

dont hate on this guy he is a true blues man, makes his own tour dates and is a real rambling man. those notes and fret work is the real deal. thats how it was done in 28-39 playing for a plate of food and a few shots hootch and if you were lucky enought to get laid before you left town then icing on the cake. john is living the life and leaving quite a trail even in his elder years

john is one of the most impressive and authentic blues artists on earth. a true historian and was lucky enough to have met many of the great ones while hanging out with his dad. remember his dad almost got robert johnson to nyc but he died three days before john found him

Nope, I'm talkin' about all the pseudo blues guys that are out there that everyone seems to rave about, like Joe B. and Kenny S. The guys you mentioned are great because they go for soul and not flash. So does John H. I think the " real " blues is lost on a lot of today's younger players. I'm not sure why though.
