I find it ironic that for your #1 choice, Gloria Grahame in THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, your selected photo was a publicity still from possibly her greatest performance in IN A LONELY PLACE. Grahame gets slammed for her win in 1952, yet I wonder how many people realize how talented of an actress she really was--they need only to rent CROSSFIRE, THE BIG HEAT or the above mentioned film (where she holds her own against Bogie) to see she was more than the sum of her Oscar-winning performance.

I agree. But name one Mfr that year that topped him. Seriously. The movie is actually an Italian play and while they transposed it into some NH college boy trip, there were scenes of brilliance. Pacino didn't win because of the movie, or the performance, he won won for moments like the dancing scenem the suicide, the lessons he taught the boy about life. I saw that movie IN THE THEATER when it opened and every other movie that year. There are scenes in there that are pure Pacino, in his glory.

Well, she won 'Best Supporting.' I don't think there was equal competition, though I didn't like the movie. However, Jack won for playing McMurphy and Pacino lost for playing my fuc%^ng favorite role of all time in: Dog Day Afternoon, as Sonny. '75 was a tough year for competition. Of yea, and 'scent of a woman' was brilliant! Take that!
