It's in 4/4. The intro (and whole song) accentuates the off beats which is what gives this song the awesome groove it has. This is why it's not straightforward to count.

Very nice. I have a few albums of Redman's. Wish I could find more. So far I have found a few drummers that I really like: Brian Blade, Joe Morelli, Martin Valihora. This is a very nice sounding trio for sure.

Blade is the ultimate MUSICIAN on the drums. His playing is an art form in itself. Love Joshua Redman, he's one of my influences but that song wouldn't be the same without Brian Blade !
