In 2003 the Cinematic Orchestra were commissioned to rerecord a soundtrack to the film (to open a culture festival or something i think?), which was created in 1929 (completely groundbreaking at the time). Cinematic Orchestra have also released the soundtrack on NInja Tunes.

Could somebody enlighten me about the two supposed audio versions? I see that the Alloy Orchestra is providing the music for this one. At times I have also seen the Cinematic Orchestra providing the music. I prefer the Alloy but wonder why this great documentary has two audio versions.

Oh...I meant the score by Michael Nyman on the other version, not the score on this version.
By: jeumort. on 26 Apr 08, 17:12:59
Saw this for the first time today, and the score is incredible! The technical accomplishments of this film are so dazzling. The quick editing was shocking in how modern it is. I was completely taken aback by how vibrant this film was, especially it being 79 years old!
By: SophoclesProduction. on 14 Apr 08, 22:20:07
I love this movie! I also enjoy the new music added on the starting of this version. However, I think the point is being missed that the starting was suppose to be silent until it goes to the orchestra starting to play. But, instead of that it's a pretty cool version.

Muy buena oportunidad de reeducarse en el arte del montaje.
By: fixxer85. on 13 Feb 08, 04:34:21
I love this version. Michael Nymann's score is not bad either, but this score is more similar to the notes that Vertov made about the music that should accompany this movie
